I am creating Online Purpose Mondays Some of you may not know this or choose not to hear the truth. But hey you have to uncover your online purpose quick fast in a hurry. I have been saying this via email to my niche marketing mentorees for the past year plus. The reality is that it is NOT about “making money online. As much as it is about you creating wealth through your online purpose.

The Definition of Online Purpose

Online Purpose are your passions, talent, and a target audience that needs an immediate solution. So the question comes up HOW do I tap into those to make more money?

Passion: STOP thinking you can’t make money with your passion. Doesn’t mean that you will make money like you want. But you can make money. If your a poet your poetry book may not sell like you want but you can still teach marketing to other poets. Also you can consult with them live and do speaking on marketing yourself as a poet online.

Talent: STOP working your weaknesses and START focusing heavily on your natural born talents. If your really good at speaking or writing you should focus on that. List at least 3-5 strengths meaning talents. And think of how you can make things easier on yourself.

Immediate Solution: You need to get answer to peoples problems quickly. Everyone talks about value but the REAL value is created when you solve a problem. Solve them for people who need quick solutions and willing to pay premium dollar. The movies do this all the time. They charge 5 times as much to see it in the theatre than see it on video.

Remember before you create a website know the WHY and for WHO it is targeting. That will justify the work and challenges that all sites have. But when you combine passion you have the fuel. When you throw in talent you have an easier time and outsource the rest. When you find your immediate audience you are working HARD at working SMART.

Notice how everyone in the world tries to tell you how “smart” they are when it comes to marketing online? Well only the REAL people are going to reveal how smart they are NOT. So enters good ole Darren (laughing). I am glad I can honestly laugh about this now. Many of you may have heard my long version of this story. The truth everyone is that successful people learn more from their mistakes than anyone else.

That’s simply because we FAIL the most. See successful people don’t succeed the most. They FAIL the most. And despite that failure they just kept going. Think about it like this. Babe Ruth failed the MOST. YES he hit over 700 home runs but also stuck out almost twice as much.

The idea is that in order to be successful you must discover what doesn’t work quickly and then move on. It is called Fail Fast Forward. You take massive action and then massive detailed assessment of your results. And if it didn’t work you move forward. But you NEVER give up!

OK I avoided my mistake long enough (laughing).

Short version is I built popular sites that showed little returns. Some of my sites had hundreds of thousands of visitors every month. Yet little sale conversions. So a few years back I started a little site and discovered by accident what I was doing wrong. As I say in my profits vs popularity article “the profitable stay small and don’t worry about being popular.”

The little site was making more money with way less traffic. Why? because people wanted the items I was selling of course but it is much deeper than that.

Another  problem I had was I couldn’t figure out exactly “how” to repeat my little sites success. I more than understand that online it isn’t about doing 5000 things one time but doing 5 things 1000 times. In fact I coined that phrase. But I wasn’t sure exactly “what” to repeat 1000 times.

Oh and quick note as I explain in Why Niche Markets NEVER Show Their Sites I wont tell you what the little site was because it would increase added competition. I am still making money with from that site.

So one day a business partner and another blogger introduced me to Niche Profit Classroom. What Adam the creator at NPC confirmed for me was how to develop a method to repeat my first little sites accidental success.

So hear is what I learned from all of the money I lost in previous years. Not to mention the time and work.

  • Shut up and Sell: as I say in 7 Reasons to Shut up and Sell you didn’t come this far to get your butt kicked did you?  Don’t worry about those non buying readers who say they “love” you for sharing FREE info for their benefit yet have the audacity to criticize you for offering premium things to sell. FOCUS on your customers.
  • Solve to Sell: I said it best ion another article. Solve a problem and I almost guarantee you it will lead to a customer.
  • FOCUS on people who “desperately” need problems solved: That makes the difference between a customer today and a customer a month from now or never.
  • Small is the NEW Big online (BELIEVE IT): STOP trying to kill yourself over traffic when it is not a question of traffic it is a question of targeted soon to be converted visitors.
  • Get a good foundational program: I already told you earlier what worked for me (NPC). that was a way for me to establish a base of thinking that changed the way my company did business.

WHY would I tell you about this if I am doing so well?

Simple: instead of giving you the cliche “I care about helping people” comment I thought I get RAW and REAL with you. Don’t get it wrong I do care about helping people but here are some equally real answers:

Since I started writing about the 10 year old girl that is making $3,000 a month in niche marketing. I have been getting a lot of requests to reveal both her site and a few of mine. I totally understand why you would ask for proof. On the internet you need it. But here lies the challenge with that type of proof. Proving to you opens my site to extra (in many cases a flood) of competition.

What happens when you reveal a website to the public

Niche Profit Classroom founder Adam Short revealed his Betta Fish site in late 2008. Since that time a TON of sites have popped up to challenge him.

See the way niche marketing works is that we are finding a low competition market with specialized search tools. We then apply a special method (actually several) to determine the competition level and quality. Then assess the sales history. Then we INVADE. Once invading we wait for results. Assess progress over the first 15 – 30 days. Then we re reassess and fine tune.

There is more to it than this but that is a simple overview of how it works.

Niche Marketers Nightmare

The worst thing in the world is to fine tune a site build a following of customers then EVERYONE finds out. Imagine its the late 1840s in California. Gold is discovered. You travel out to strike it rich. After weeks you discover  nugget. Do you tell others? Well I wouldn’t (laughing).

Whats funny about Niche Profit Classroom was when I discovered it actually WORKED I didn’t tell anyone for like 6-7 months. Then I discovered (2) things.

1. Read how people who sell GREAT programs can afford to tell others

2. There are over 600,000 niches and micro sub niches. So no worries of bumping into each other.

Well Through Niche Profit Classroom I am a living example it does work.

But to answer that question more directly I would say the single most clearest judge to you should be your senses. That’s what made me choose them a year and half  ago. I usually have a longer post but I wanted to share a quick yet HARD lesson I learned years ago. I even talk about it in my 90 second solution for building sites. I was building MEGA sites (4 of them). This was one of the BIGGEST mistake I ever made because I was associating popularity with profits.

Well I already shared my super simple theory called “Solve to Sell”. Now we are going to delve into the details. There are 4 secrets that I teach in my FREE mentoring program for people that signup thorugh me for Niche Profit Classroom. 1. Search (well DUH I know many of you knew that). But what many of you may not know is that Google adwords is only part of that solution. Many people fall victim to major searches thinking they need to get to the top of a million search keyword. STOP doing that. The money is in the 3 phrase keywords and long tail keywords. That means if your current keywords are only single ones then your in trouble. But search is not the lone answer.

2. Competitive pages: well now we dig a little deeper because not only should you know what people are searching for but what the competition is like. This is something a lot of internet marketers know about as well. And if you didn’t know….. well now you know (laughter rapper Biggie Smalls reference) . People usually search like this “Google search” in Google to find out how many people have pages ranking. But there is a major issue with doing that I am about to point out in the next secret.

3. Competition Strength: BIG BIG secret! You see a lot of searches and low competitors right? But WHOA hold on! Don’t rush too quick to register a domain and get the surprise of your life! There could be few competing pages lets say 5000 which is small.

But what you don’t know is that there are 2 gorilla sites waiting for your little Wee Willie site to just THINK about coming near them. They will devour you like fiber and we know where fiber ends up right?

If you are not assessing the top 10 in Google you are in trouble. I am teaching members who I mentor for FREE how to do this in detail when they signup to this.

4. Sales History: Hey this was a 5 figure lesson for me. I used to build MEGA sites. These sites were popular. Very popular and often even members of the mainstream media were visitors. But at one point I discovered that popular is only related to profit by the letter “p”.

My point here is that if there is no history of a money making business model then you are in trouble. Frankly any niche your in should not only have a history but a diverse one.

Who is selling the ebooks? What else are they selling? Can you pinpoint what they are NOT selling and why? That’s where the discovery proccess begins.

I am going to make this simple because I will go into detail in another article. I pointed out in 2009 how America caused it’s own recession. Now we are going to talk briefly how you can solve that issue. No I don’t mean the economy but YOUR economy. The better you do the better the economies of the world do as well right? Right!

So allow me a moment to get into your mind and rearrange what is digging into your pockets. And finally have you rethinking exactly HOW you earn money.

You know I looked up in Google and found more searches as I am writing this and “Sell to Solve” has a greater search than “Solve to Sell”. Everyone is trying to sell something to solve something. Instead of solving something and making a sell. The latter is how I have made most my sells.

Here are (3) simple solutions

  1. Find a problem (not your problem your customer)
  2. Offer a solution in the form of benefits
  3. Continue to solve their problems AFTER the sale

I want to clearly identify WHAT these skills are and WHY you need these skills. Everyone is NOT a member. Everyone cannot do this. Weird sales pitch huh? (laughing) But it is NOT a sales pitch. Sure I have an audio and video detailing a great niche program I am a part of here. But read this article in detail and you will understand why so few people are actual members of a silent niche marketing society.

I have a saying “Anyone can be a entrepreneur / but not everyone can be an entrepreneur.” What I mean by that is that the opportunity is there. But you may not want to stay for the opportunity (laughing). Same goes for niche marketing.

Can you get into niche marketing? Of course. Can you join our society? Yes. But will you stay? That’s where the big question mark comes in.

I notice a lot of people use the “elite” word a lot in internet marketing. But I use it very carefully. I use elite as in this definition: Latin, eligere, “to elect”. In sociology as in general usage, the elite is a relatively small dominant group within a large society. In niche marketing (the REAL niche marketers) dominate with the following skills.

7 Elite niche marketing Skills Do You Have Them?

1. Focus: If you are dealing with a ton of internet marketing emails you will FAIL at niche marketing. You have to be able to fine tune your focus. Read the other 6 skills to see why. Without focus the other 6 skills are not as effective. FOCUS means redirecting those emails. That means unsubscribing to ANYONE that is not bringing value to your business.

2. Patience: This is where the REAL survive and the “get rich quick” fade out quickly. This is a long term game. The rewards are greater but you put in your work and you will be amazed! Here is why. The sites we do in niche marketing are way less maintenance. On a average month you are only making sure everything is running smoothly and adding a few pages and your done. Of course setting everything up correctly the first time is major work but now we are talking about after that process.

3. Heart and a Brass Pair (even if your a woman): Takes a lot of heart to walk into a billion dollar market establish yourself as a authority and hold that market. My 10 year old student (Darth sue we call her) has heart. She is beating over 8 competitors in her first site. One of which is a international toy company.

4. Marketing Research Skills: Combination of creative articulation to logistical. IS a market there? Are there competitors? Are they gorillas or unicorn competitors? Is there proof of a product or service being sold? If so what? These are just a few of the questions you must ask before you build anything. niche marketing is 70% research. Research is the foundation of niche marketing.

5. Execution (action and follow through) This is where analysis by paralysis DIES. Focus, show patience and heart and research your butt off. But if you don’t DO SOMETHING then you fail. Period. Real niche marketers take massive amounts of ACTION.

6, Assessment Skills: Can you do 1-5? Great now you have to look at what you have done and the results. What worked? What didn’t? What can you A/B split test in the next 15-30 days with at least 100+ people in traffic? Assessment is one of the most important processes because the more fine tuned your are the easier it will be to do #7.

7. Repetition: Can you fine tune (1) website to get say a few hundred people coming to it? And say 230-100+ people signing up to your email list? Can you convert at least 3 or more sales minimum each month with a minimum priced product of $15? If the answer is yes. And if you signup here you will find out how to do that. Then your next step is to duplicate the process. This is why Wal Mart is selling 400 billion dollars a year in a recession.

Frank Kern talks about it, Dan Kennedy writes about it, John Reese and Ryan Driess mention it in their $1000 courses. But NO ONE speaks about it as openly as I am going to here. Wal Mart didn’t make their money by going to BIG markets and going toe to toe with K Mart who was in the past the largest retailer in the USA. You know what they did? They silently beat K Mart when it didn’t exist. In fact the more OFF of K Marts radar the better.

What I am saying is that there are  500,000 sub niches and even 2 million more in geo targeted locations. So why are you just in “internet marketing“?

All of the famous names I mentioned at the beginning of this article really made their money in the obscure low competition niches. And here is the amazing part and the secret I was talking about earlier. GURUs get beatup in these niches all the time by the little guy. that’s right the little guy whips them up. How? Well have you ever heard of “The Science to Getting Rich”? a guy named Wallace D. Wattles wrote it 100 years ago.

My father told me a story about his first week in the Korean war. He was trained to fight but once he arrived there he received a retraining. In other words people who applied the methods and concepts were teaching him valuable lifesaving techniques.

See there are great programs out there. But very little mentoring from people actually doing it right along with you. And NO this is nt some sort of pitch for a coaching program.

So now we are going to discuss her dangerous yet real massive duplicating process. Well….dangerous for her competitors (laughing). In fact last night before writing this I was kidding with the young lady and we (several of us) decided to call her Darth Girl (like Darth Vader). But since she and her father agreed to release her name we changed that slightly.

The Birth of Darth Sue This could be YOU

So We are calling her Darth Sue (laughing hard). The reason we identify with the bad guys in Star Wars (Sith Lords for non Star Wars people) is because of the fear we cause when we show up in niches on Google. You can usually tell it is one of us when you see a site suddenly appear in the top 3 listings…..and NEVER go away (laughing in evil voice who who hahaha).

There is nothing bad as in unethical about what Darth Sue, her father or myself. In fact what we are doing is white hat and some grey areas yes but definitely NOT black hat. No tricks only treats. We are targeting the “right” markets which we amazingly pull from our very lives.

That’s a little secret I will share with you. Every niche site I or my partners in my company have launched are based on life. Watching human nature, identifying a problem and solving it then replicating the process.

The Clone Wars McDonald’s Does it all the Time

Now what Darth Sue is going to do is even better. She is going to create a clone war. What is she cloning or duplicating? The process of creating sites. But even better she is complimenting and enhancing her current site.

Question: does McDonald’s go off and start a hot dog company with their successful formula? No, they enhance their menu and also fit it to the local niche. For instance they don’t serve beef in the India McDonald’s they serve another meat.

“Would you like fries with that?” That is the most famous questions on Earth. Do you know that McDonald’s made an extra Billion dollars inside of a few months when they introduced that question? The fries compliment the meal. When you order a #1 which includes the burger, Coke, and fries they are called a “value meal.” McDonald’s has brainwashed enhancement in to our world complimenting our orders.

The same can be done with websites.

Today I am going to discuss the $400 billion dollar strategy she is going to use to create an online empire. But first I have to mention that this is not some niche based catchphrase marketing strategy. This is different. That’s why many enter but only few stay.

Also have you figured out from past posts that what 10 year old is doing almost anyone including YOU can do? Have you further realized that the $400 billion dollar strategy is over 100 years old? It is true.

The Billion Dollar Strategy

In fact everyone uses this strategy in our secret profit making society. WalMart started much like Sears and Roebuck, and now defunct Woolworth. They found people with problems and solved them. Their solutions created the kind of value that people were willing to pay for again and again.

The reason WalMart is the largest because they concentrated on the smallest. In the 1970′s -2000 K-Mart was the biggest ruler while WalMart focused on building stores in small towns that K-Mart never focused on. K-Mart thought those markets were too small.

WalMart does 4 things that Creates $400 Billion Dollars

  1. Few markets are ever too small. They excel by providing top quality value in return for money.
  2. They research their market all the time. Never assume what people want. They know who their market is and what they what and when they want it and how much. And they are ready to offer competitive prices.
  3. They are not afraid of change they embrace it to their advantage.In past years they removed magazines and music and replaced them with higher converting items.
  4. They duplicate 1-3 across the world.

Yet this only scratches the $400 billion dollar surface

See in our secret society we focus on the super small, dominate, then duplicate. And we do all of this (10 year old girl included) with several elements from WalMarts billion dollar strategy. But there are things WalMart does NOT do. WalMart doesn’t always provide the highest quality do they? That’s not to sat their products are cheap because they aren’t. In fact WalMart has too many returns they switch brand quick.

What I am saying is that what if you could have the 4 strategies of WalMart and quality of a Ferrari? That’s where the advantages of our secret society comes in.

You and the 10 year old girl have an advantage

In part 4 I will outline how this girl is preparing for a clone war. What that means is that she is going to repeat the process she used to create her website over and over.

She can dominate even without a number one position in Google.

Well in part 1 of How a 10 Year Old Created a 5 Figure a Year Website. I discussed a “few” of the ways she created this site. But I just pointed out some overview information. I said that :

  1. She found someone looking to solve a problem
  2. She found a way to solve it
  3. And then repeated the process.
  4. Oh and PS I forgot she did in fact see this video and the others

Big deal right? I know this sounds like one of those articles designed to get you to click on the headlines only to reveal a lame answer. But as I said in the last post. There is more that meets the eye.

So lets get into the actual “type” of site she created and how she makes money. In fact last month she brought in $3945 without any help from her father.

Of course her father is monitoring the proccess for safety reasons and has their PayPal account under his name. And like all good fathers he is watching out for the dreaded cowardly sexual predators. However besides that the site is all hers. Though her father is present, her safety isn’t really at risk because her customers don’t even know she is a 10 year old girl!

I explained to you in the previous post that she like myself are part of a secret society. Well now I am going to share a little more with you about that society while revealing more about this young girls website.

It is extremely important that I lay the foundation so you can understand why the secrecy exists. And also why I am choosing my words carefully while writing about her website and the society itself.

Our websites dominate Google in select niches around the world. And obviously it would not be wise to reveal them. The only people who are familiar with our websites are our competitors. And again they are not too happy to see us (laughing).

Members of our society are infamous for striking FEAR into the hearts of online competitors. They almost immediately fall prey to our online presence. That’s because our competition is weak, confused, and poorly prepared. So weak that even a little 10 year old girl can dominate.

Darth Vader meets Hanna Montana

Now imagine a little girl with this type of power. Sort of like Darth Vader meets Hanna Montana (laughing but true). As Yoda would say – strong with the force this one is. Especially since this isn’t typical result for a website but I will get into that shortly.

The amazing part is that anyone could have thought of this. The platform for her thinking was based on my teachings to her father. Little did dad know she was listening in his office during our private mentoring emails and live chats.

This young lady genius came up with a brilliant idea for a website after watching a special on dolls. But it is not what you think. Her niche is not dolls. More like doll accessories but not really. Her niche involves items (not clothes) that a particular type of doll uses. The amazing part is that she doesn’t even like the type of doll or accessories (laughing). I will lay out another quick hint. Those thinking it is Barbie you are wrong it is not. Plus even her mother and older sister said they would have never thought of her idea.

Best part? Her average sell is $50+ dollars.

Now hear is the SCARY part.

Soon she like her father and myself will be duplicating her process. Again last month she made $3945. I must admit this is not a typical result. Yet even the average number will blow your mind when multiplied by an amazing duplication process. Remember here in America Sam Walton of Walmart made his money off what many call chump change. How did he do it? Same way the little girl did.

There is an underground secret niche marketing society online that few speak about in detail. In fact there are several. And I and my partner and his 10 year old daughter are all members.

The reason we don’t talk about this group too much is because many “regular” (regs we call them) people think it is the same as all of the others. The “regs” think the site is run by some sort of get rich quick GURU. Some guy who is a obnoxious, narcissistic, egomaniac.

But little do they know….

Surprisingly it is not. Our leaders are some of the most quite lay low humble people you will ever meet. In fact they look like the pizza delivery guy. Not a Wall Street Tycoon.

This secret  group revolutionized my business.

And I secretly mentor people who I help enter this secret society.

  1. We don’t worry about competition because we enter like VIKINGS.
  2. Google loves us! In fact I have a harder time with the public sites like this with Google than the secret society sites.

Tyler Perry’s Amazing $600 Million Secret to Micro niche marketing

Before I get into Tyler Perry I want you the reader to understand that I wrote this for you. Whether your an online entrepreneur or aspiring to be one you will sense a very repeated tone in this article. After reading this you will never generalize your site or career definitions again.

Also you will understand the importance of positioning and focusing on building specific markets. Tyler Perry  has built a $600 million dollar empire from micro niche marketing.

Tyler Perry is a household name in the African American community. However since 2005 he has also become a household name in films and TV across the world. Tyler is a writer, producer, director, and actor. He has a $200 million dollar TV deal with TBS for “The Paynes” and “The Browns”. He has also sold over $400 Million Dollars in 9 feature box office films.

How Tyler Perry Became Internationally known from a Micro Niche

Tyler didn’t get to be the $600 million dollar man by catering to a mass audience. He grew through geo targeted micro focused niches. What Tyler used to do is build market by market. There is an irony about the TV and film deals that Tyler shared with me in 2005. Hollywood didn’t know who he was and how deeply rooted and active his niche was and of course still is. They tried to offer him a lot less money and even told him that he couldn’t mention god in his shows and films. Of course all of that went out the door when his first film Diary of a Mad Black Woman had a $50 million dollar box office. Almost half of that was in the first week.

He also received a 16% approval from from Diary of a Mad Black Woman. from the infamous film critique website Rotten Tomatoes.com. Had Tyler not focused on geo targeting his micro niche their opinion “might” have mattered. But his previous 7 years focus on his niche before 2005 cemented his successful transition into TV and film.

Tylers Secret to Micro Niche Marketing

Tyler started out writing and producing plays then marketing them on Books and DVD’s. It has been said that you can develop your acting through theater (the first stage). Well the same thing goes for writing and producing. His plays became hits. Tyler focused on not just any African American consumer. He specifically targeted the church communities.

Here is what makes Tyler stand out from other plays in the faith based community. His plays are more than willing to contain very non secular content. His most popular character Madea is just the opposite of a church patron. Many people (faith based or not) in the African American community know several people who fit Madea’s characteristics. Thus making her a very popular character. Another very obvious strategy Tyler Perry has is to brand name all of his works.

Another thing he does that makes his brand stand out is geo targeting his performances. His charter Madea for instance always makes references to local areas in each city. That way the audience reacts (and relates) more.

So lets break this down

  1. Focus on a select area of a niche (micro niche)= Faith based
  2. Define and create a unique selling proposition to STAND OUT = Faith based but not faith exclusive (non secular church people connected to Tylers plays).
  3. Geo Target your marketing = Characters in his play always reference local areas. In your case focus on several metro areas.
  4. Brand your products under one single branded message with sub brands = Tyler Perry Presents. Also Madea series, Brown series, Paynes Series.

  5. Transition to a wider medium while keeping your base = plays, books became films and TV shows.

Apply every one of these points to your business and the following will happen.

  • You will have a stronger base and directly connect to them more.
  • You will have a stronger brand.
  • Your ability to transition to a larger wider audience will go much more successfully.

I have a friend I used to work with in radio. He used to always say “Darren I like being a big fish in a little pond.” I always thought his strategy was short sighted. We were both wrong and right at the same time.

You see in the last year plus I have discovered that in niche marketing it isn’t about the niche. The real power in getting Google to rank you is in the size, location, and number of existing competitors. Notice that last part? See you should have some existing competition. But not a lot (heavy) competition.

But here is where I was right about being short sighted. Why dominate one niche when you can use this niche marketing strategy repeatedly? Whats funny is that I stopped telling people how many sites my company owns with this strategy. Because even one of the editors at Forbes thought I was exaggerating until I explained in detail LOL.

So why am I telling this to you instead of keeping it to myself? I know you gotta be asking that because I ask it all the time.  Actually I kept it to myself for 6 months.

Then two things hit me. First there are roughly over 500,000 geo targeted micro niches and less than 2% are competing for them.  Secondly I discovered how real so called GURUs make money honestly. Read that article and it will make sense to you.

The odds of you taking action on the information in this article is low. Despite the tremendous probability of you profiting from it within 30-40 days. Thus the saturation of niche marketers stays low. I even did a video in that article proving my theory.

My point here is that many of you are dealing with information overload. However the few of you that FOCUS and ask questions maybe even comment are going to dominate. As long as you follow up with action. So keep reading.

How to Dominate

Did you know that a  SEO website offering SEO services is much more powerful in a smaller focused area within a specific location? Then there are  the larger SEO competitors. These companies generally cover everywhere, everything, and everyone. But its weakness is in lack of focus. And the same applies to almost ANY niche you can think up. Whats more powerful your fingers by themselves or your highly focused fist?

Lets say our smaller SEO website is focusing on building more traffic on back links and SEO key phrase structures. Lets also say that that small SEO website focuses on the Sacramento area. Do you realize how open that local area and millions of others are because no one is focusing by specifics and location?

An optimized, independently owned, wordpress blog would dominate that market. The key is in the keywords, content, and consistency. Of course back links would play a major factor as well.

The real fun: Scare the Hell out of the Competition

Be everywhere! Local directory listings, even target other local geo targeted key phrases. Basically anything you can do locally to dominate. Get involved with any local organizations, social media groups, any meetup groups etc. Focusing locally with your niche marketing strategy will enforce you as an authoritative site locally and globally to Google. Also watch when that big company SEO shows up thinking they will dominate in your micro niche. You will hand them their hat if you know what I mean (laughing).

The more you geo focus the more you dominate and stand out from the others. However one of the greatest advantages to this niche marketing strategy is FREE targeted traffic.

Like I said with teachers in general, there is a lot of things you could make money with. History teachers have a great advantage. Because within one war alone there are over 100 sub niches.

Lets take the Civil War for example.You can create blogs within several sub micro niches. The following are niches that you can focus on

  • Gun memorabilia
  • Confederacy memorabilia
  • Miniature soldier memorabilia
  • Uniforms
  • Medals
  • USA territory
  • Horse items (used on horses)
  • War Bond posters
  • War Pictures
  • Specific battle memorabilia or literature (i.e. Gettysburg)
  • Tours
  • Antiques
  • Gifts
  • Games
  • Cannons

And that is just a few of the areas where people are making money. Here is the interesting part. Most of the leaders in this area from my search do not have your credentials as a history teacher. The online business ideas I am sharing involves detailed research but it would take less than a hour.

Start a blog

This will be a common step I tell everyone. Start a self hosted blog. Want to do it right? Try my simple blog guide. You need a blog to establish your authority online. Your credentials seal the deal. But as I said earlier the leaders in several micro niches didn’t even pass history class (laughing). But they know their history from a hobby perspective. This is your chance to dominate!

BEFORE you start your blog do this….

Because this is WAY intense research (hey the good stuff is never turnkey easy but it has become easier). I am only doing some overviews there are some key details that pertain differently to each niche.

You need to pinpoint your particular niche in history and then fine tune it like I did with the civil war above. Frankly I can still fine tune it. For instance “Civil War Battle Maps” is a great keyword phrase. Then use Google adwords to pinpoint your rich searches. There are some other steps to further pinpoint but I don’t want this to become a 1000 word article on this particular subject (laughing).

Next pinpoint the number of indexed pages competing for that keyword phrase. Under 30,000 is your potential target. The idea is less competition more searches.

In my example “Civil War Battle Maps” has less than 3000 competing pages and roughly over 700 people searching a month. That’s a great opportunity! IF you know about battle maps for this war and blog about it and set your blog up right. You may be in business with these online business ideas in no time.

What to sell.

First look at Google. See what is possibly being sold. From what I see it is only print maps. But hey wouldn’t hurt to test out a comprehensive guide (PDF downloadable) on tours, antique stores and battle map information. Why did I throw in tours and antiques? Well the key phrase “civil war antiques” and “civil war tours” have roughly over 1000 searches and less than 8000 competing pages in each key phrase.

So now with those three key phrases you have a combined almost 2000 people searching with little competition.

Getting interesting?

These aren’t just any visitors. These are targeted more than likely potential customers. They will be ready to buy if you present your blog and information correctly.
