The funny part is that I get a lot of people who have a variety of words for me (good and not so good) when I post these series. Especially since I capitalize where I please instead of following the English “rules” (oooo breakin the rules).

People sometimes ask “Darren why do you quote yourself?” And my response is “If I do not claim my words and share them who will?” This is not a ego attack no matter what anyone says. This is saying what God puts in my head to share with the world. Consider my quotes to be seeds. When you throw out enough seeds something is sure to grow. Just not where nor when you expect. The Devil is not a Liar, He’s a Publicist

The Devil is not a Liar, He’s a Publicist. I have been asked about the meaning of this quote msny times. The first group of people asking of course are publicists. The answer doesn’t lie in the publicist profession but within the way in which unverified facts are publicized and how the devils involvement should become more transparent. In America we live in one of the greatest countries in history for freedom and creative idea’s. Yet we are trained to be mundane. From school tests and quizzes to college entrance exams to life and death.

The greatest herald to our mundane educational programming in America comes from members of the national commercial press. I wouldn’t go as far to say all. But I will say many. They are the number one organization that the devil promotes to daily. We don’t listen to accurate information but to rumors. Stop for a minute and think who pays for CNN, FOX, and MSNBC to broadcast?

The Commercial News tells us Neither the Lie Nor the Truth

The answer is advertisers. Why? Because they are capturing our attention. And HOW are they capturing our attention? By publicizing the truth? No. The Lie? No. They capture our attention by publicizing the news. These stations aren’t interested in publicizing the truth or the lie. They are interested in publicizing the news. They publish and broadcast the truth as news, they publish and broadcast the lie as news. What the difference between the two? Well that’s called circulation or ratings.

The Devil is NOT a Liar, He’s a Publicist

The devil doesn’t need to lie, the devil doesn’t need to tell the truth. All the devil needs to do is publicize. The devil is not a liar, he is a publicist.

So what do we do? Especially as Entrepreneurs?

The above issue attacks entrepreneurs everyday. We are raised to think you are supposed to go to school get good grades, go to college work at a job and retire at 65. Who sold us on that lifestyle? You guessed it. The devil is not a liar, he is a publicist. I don’t believe in pointing out a problem without sharing some idea’s for a solution or several solutions.

Approach life from this point on with a Socratic filter

Socrates said “if what you want to tell me is neither true nor good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?“ Beginning now STOP looking at the news more than 20 minutes. Its OK to get an idea of whats happening but don’t get enraptured into to OPP (other peoples publications).

Focus on the people who surround you and begin to access the type of information they bring you. Is it truthful, good, and useful?

Ask the same of your web surfing. Including this site ask yourself. Is the information truthful, good, and useful?

From this point on monitor what you see and hear on a daily basis. Do you know it takes 13 positive message to counter negative ones? And on a finally view this video EVERYDAY!
