21 Online Business Ideas for Personal Coaches

Posted by

OK here are 21 online business ideas for personal coaches I want to share. However first I have to say something important. If one more person comes to me and says they are a “personal coach” and have a website and yet can’t figure out why they are selling I may scream. The reason WHY you aren’t selling is the same reason WHY people are having a hard time getting a job during a recession. Both of you have the same issue. You lack a unique selling proposition. Everyone is going after the same business with no concern of differentiation.  Several of my online business ideas below were created to help you solve this problem and others.

  1. Add a definition to your professional name: instead of “personal coach” what about the “personal internet marketing coach?” Or The “product launch for writers coach?” That gives people a clearer definition of what potential problem you are solving.
  2. Geo target your coaching: don’t just open yourself to the world but what about your local area? Instead of being a “personal internet marketing coach” one of the most simple yet effective online business ideas would be to be the “personal internet marketing coach for Los Angeles.”
  3. Micro Niche your coaching: Now it is one thing to be the “personal internet marketing coach for Los Angeles.” But what about the “personal sales conversions coach for Los Angeles.” So you are telling people that not only are you coaching online but that your also in the LA specializing in online sales conversions. PS hint hint salesconversioncoach.com is available.
  4. Offer a powerful podcast that focuses on your micro niche: Again it is all about the micro focus. The general spots are taken and hard fought for but a specific area with people in how you solve problems.
  5. Create a report that is NEEDED because it solves a problem: OK for some of you this may be a DUH moment but here is the catch. You have to CONFIRM this is what your market wants. How? Easy look at your twitter account. You account in social media should be filled with people in your market. Read your twitter stream and then see what problem needs to be solved. Also put together a survey.
  6. OWN your FULL name domain: and point it to your current domain. As your brand grows you should own your full name. Example look what pops up when you enter http://www.DarrenScottMonroe.com
  7. Create a FREE ebook series: to distribute throughout the web. Your option brand it but you could also have affiliate links on it.
  8. Offer followup instructions and weekly sessions to anything you sell.
  9. Take over another geo targeted area: Remember idea number 2? his is after you have established yourself grab another nearby city for the purpose of gaining their traffic as well. In our LA example above remember San Diego is near or Santa Monica is even closer.
  10. Create a series of products with your name: and other things i.e. Darren Monroe’s Learn Entrepreneurship Online Video Series.
  11. Create a mobile app that helps your clients: Create a way so that they can connect while on the go.
  12. Sell gift certificates: I think this is one of the most underestimated sales items. The purchaser would be a spouse or boyfriend /girlfriend or a friend.
  13. Create an online video instructional of EVERYTHING you do: Then make it a premium content operation. One of my favorite online business ideas because it is a no brainer.
  14. Write print books on your field but sell exclusively online: There is a tremendous opportunity to market yourself across the web. Maybe not the same as the old school ways but still the same prestige with half the cost.
  15. Offer FREE webinars to help people: what you get is based on what you give. You never know if there is a referral somewhere hidden in the FREE business.
  16. Create a membership site that focuses on your specific niche: This is one of those online business ideas where you have to be careful. The key to your membership is standing out from any other coaches.
  17. Create a FREE resource center: some of you are thinking “gee Darren I thought thats what my blog”. No in this case this would be a wiki or direct solution of sorts.
  18. Interview top professionals even celebs in your field: then bonus that interview to your products.
  19. Create video series answering some of the MOST controversial issues in your field.
  20. Create a e-learning course: where people learn over the course of say 2 months or 12 weeks. For instance a followup program to help them.
  21. Offer to speak at your local chamber of commerce: or a association in your profession or bank. The idea here is to generate more opportunities to do business and have partnerships.
