The Truth about Perry Belcher Internet Marketer

Perry Belcher, Social Media, and the Infamy of the Internet
**UPDATE: Also Read breaking story Perry Belcher Quit**
I have chosen my words carefully as I write this so I please ask that you read this in it’s entirety before commenting.
First I would like to acknowledge a few things before I continue.
1. This is not a article attacking nor praising Perry Belcher. I wanted to establish this comment first. I want to share the truth which involves as many facts that I could provide. The truth to me involves the good, the bad, and the ugly. And the reality is that each and every one of you reading this including myself each have all three in our history.
2. I waited until Perry was almost sold out of his recent program before publishing this as to be fair and not look as though I was writing this to in some way (if only in a minuscule way) to derail his promotional efforts.
I believe this is a very important point because as many of you know I have a Twitter program that I have created as well. So as to not look biased but fair. Or as fair as I could given that I too am a Internet professional.
Who is Perry Belcher? Allow me to give you the short version. Perry started out in internet marketing and as a entrepreneur some years back. He has been promoting a variety of products throughout the years. Perry Belcher more than any other marketer (including Filsaime and Kern) invokes a lot of emotion both negative and positive.
Perry Belcher the Good News and the Bad News
You know the old saying “I got good news and I have bad news?” There was a study many years ago that pointed out that over 90% ask for the bad news first. So I am going to discuss the bad news first.
The Bad News
In 2008 Perry got into trouble when he was promoting his then company (Selmedica) products.
According to the Shelby County Sheriffs office posted March 24th, 2008
“Belcher’s arrest is the result of an intensive investigation conducted by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the D.A.’s White Collar Crime Unit in coordination with the Federal Drug Administration (FDA), the United States Postal Inspector, and the Tennessee Department of Revenue.”
It goes on further to say that
“The local investigation started after several individuals notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Internet Crime Complaint Center that they had possibly been defrauded by an internet company called Selmedica.”
“According to the affidavit of complaint filed in this case, Belcher owns and operates Selmedica, a company that claims on its website that it manufactures products to treat a wide array of ailments. The company claims to have made every product it sells in a “state of the art facility under the strict guidelines of the FDA’s Good Manufacturing Process.”
The affidavit goes on to say that Selmedica sells or has sold products it claims can treat attention deficit disorder, irritable bowl syndrome, head lice, female and male infertility, chronic body odor, yeast infections, scabies, ringworm infections, poison ivy, depression and anxiety, shingles, high blood pressure, hives, eczema, vertigo, pink eye, warts and migraines, among others. The company also sells or has sold products that it claims aids in weight loss, sleep deprivation, and hangovers.”
“Additionally, the affidavit states that Perry Belcher or his companies have sold e-books claiming to be written by medical experts. The affidavit says that the investigation revealed these books are not, in fact, written by medical professionals.”
Lastly the affidavit read “the Better Business Bureau of the Mid South has received more than 100 complaints over the past seven years on Selmedica, Perry Belcher and his business partners. Belcher has also done business, the affidavit says, as Selmedica Affiliates, Selmedica Healthcare, Increase Media, HealthyRightNow.com, Spring Time Herbs, Perry M. Belcher Companies, Gotcha Marketing, and AMI, Inc.”
In September of 2008 Perry Belcher according to documents from the Shelby Country Sheriffs department pleaded guilty to the offense of computer crimes over $60,000.
Since this incident as many of you know Perry and his family has moved to Austin Texas.
The Good News
Perry Belcher has some interesting idea’s about Social media. His greatest opponents couldn’t argue that the man is indeed onto something. Some claim he did that with the help of assistants etc. Maybe he did maybe he didn’t but the point is it’s there. If his following is fake as some may claim then it would have shown up during the infamous Twitter drop in followers. But he only lost around 3,000 followers out of over 100,000 of his Twitter followers. I lost 2,000 on that infamous day.
The party philosophy is a great video (and funny)
Again even if you don’t like the guy you have to admit (at least to yourself) that this was entertaining.
—————————————————————-
Do I Endorse Perry Belcher?
This is the basis of why I wrote this article. Many clients and business partners sent me emails as soon as Perry’s recent program began to launch. I found myself at odds. Like any online entrepreneur I would like to earn money. And his most recent project costs a minimum of almost a thousands dollars.
So an affiliate split totals up to a lot of money for a person like me that heads a company with a social network following in the early 6 figures across 50+ niche sites. In fact I have been in several online / phone meetings about Perry’s launch. Both partners and clients alike wondering if they should consider doing business with him.
I didn’t endorse Perry’s program and here is why: I think it would be hypocritical of me to talk about Internet ethics in the many ways I have on this site. And then promote a person who pleaded guilty of a computer crime involving the Internet. Even if I thought he was a interestingly entertaining guy with some clever idea’s. There was also concerns within my client list. I wont go into details because it is unfair to both the clients (who didn’t want to divulge their info in detail to confirm) and Perry (who has enough rumors and hearsay floating around about him).
I stand behind my name and believe as I say in one of my quotes that you should “enforce what you endorse.” I also stand behind the affiliate programs I endorse. In the last six months I have endorsed Six Minutes to Success even though there are heavy critics of Bob Proctor because of his international hit Book/DVD The Secret. I have endorsed Niche Profit Classroom because I know this is and excellent program. And in both cases I have actual proof through my business and personal life that they work.
Also of course I enforce the endorsement of my products and services. But to endorse Perry means (by my own words) that I have to defend and or enforce my endorsement. Given the current evidence I have presented in this article I do not believe nor am I comfortable with doing so.
“Darren We Should Forgive Perry!”
I have seen this argument across the web in defense of Perry. But you should think carefully about commenting across the web that defense. Let me first define “we.” We is me and anyone else that hasn’t done any business with Perry. We is also anyone that has done business with Perry and didn’t have negative results. My point here is why should “we” forgive Perry for something he hasn’t done to us? Perry hasn’t done anything wrong to me so he doesn’t owe me or anyone else (who hasn’t had a negative business experience with him) an apology. As far as I am concerned there is nothing to forgive.
“Darren Perry Belcher is Internet Satan!”
People like me who have not done any business with Perry: How is hating Perry going to help your business? The answer is that it doesn’t. If you want to avoid him and his products and services OK. But the forum and web attacks are a waste of your most valuable resource. Your time! I am more than sure you could be more productive with your life.
Here is a little Internet secret. Any and everyone with any Internet experience has been robbed by someone online. So don’t think it was just you. In fact it’s a requirement that we get taken for a scam. Why? Call it trial and error due to an unfortunate reality. It is like a batter striking out in baseball to a questionable curve ball. I am not defending Perry. I am saying that if your argument for the public attacks on Perry is based on the fact that you can’t stand people who scam others. Then you will be wasting a LOT of time. Because there are a LOT of Internet scams. Put your energy to work on things that matter and STOP wasting time with people, places, and things that don’t.
“Darren Perry Belcher Took My Money!”
If you have had a negative experience with Perry or even worst were one of the people who complained to the FBI and or the Better Business Bureau. I am truly sorry to learn that you believe you were wronged. Especially if you were (or still are) sick. The idea that anyone would sell a sick person medicine that doesn’t work sounds horrific. I cannot say for sure that Perry did or didn’t do that. Nor do I think it is my place to do so. However if you believe you have suffered because of Perry. Please know the following.
- The Laws of the Universe dictate that what you project shall be returned to you. Whatever wrong Perry or anyone else has done will be equated by God not by man. Any debts will be paid in that manner.
- Your priority is on your sickness. I guarantee that there is enough people watching Perry Belcher. FOCUS on your ailment. And know that many prayers are with you for a healthy recovery
- Forgive Perry for YOU not for him. The quicker you forgive that man I guarantee you a burden will be released from your soul. Forgiveness has nothing to do with whom you forgive. Forgiveness for others involves embracing your inner peace. I will take it even one step further and say pray for Perry and anyone involved with that company.
“Darren Should I buy Perry’s Products?”
I have explained earlier in this article why I cannot endorse nor enforce that endorsement of Perry Belcher at this time. I however think you should do your own homework. Each of your knowledge levels are different. Some may not believe Perrys information is helpful and others may find it enlightening.
As I said earlier I think his idea’s are interesting. But I have personally taken Perry’s information with a Ying Yang approach.
Ying (good info): His idea of webinars is a good one. My mentors have been trying to get me to do them since 2006 LOL! And Perry has a good approach to this method.
Yang (bad or at the very least incorrect info):I have a challenge with one of his special reports “How to Monetize Social Media” Perry wrote:
Some autoresponder services such as Aweber.com do not allow importing, so I have a separate autoresponder setup with services like iContact.com and ConstantContact.com. They’re more expensive, but they do allow you to import contacts in bulk.
I have two distinct issues with Perrys statement.
1. This is incorrect. Aweber who I endorse does in fact allow you to import subscribers. But you must do the following things before they allow you to add them.
- You’ll need to tell them where they came from which I think is a fair request.
- You’ll be able to import up to 2000 at a time (if you have a lot of subscribers, say more than 10,000, they ask that you contact them to discuss what can be done). Now I could fairly understand if this was an issue for Perry but keep in mind A Weber is endorsed by legendary Internet marketer Yanik Silver as well who surely has more than 10,000 people on his list.
- The people on your list before being imported need to confirm their interest in receiving emails from you. Like any permission marketing email list what Aweber is saying is that you need to confirm opt in. If your people actually signed up to that list this shouldn’t be a problem for you.
2. Perry Belcher says he uses Constant Contact. This is a MAJOR issue for me. I believe in permission marketing. And Constant Contact makes opting in optional not a requirement (unless they changed since I left some years ago).
What this means is that you could add anyone to your list without having the recipients confirm through their email that you have their permission. Though they do in all fairness suggest double opting in and do have it where it can be setup. At Aweber this is a requirement.
“Darren Why Should I care about That?!”
From a consumer perspective: that is why you get so many emails where you never gave permission. Spammers harvest emails and send out bulk spam this way. I am NOT saying that Perry Belcher is doing this because I have no factual evidence to believe otherwise.
From a professional marketers perspective: This is the quickest way to get your emails to your recipients spam boxes. Double opt in (getting permission via confirmation email) is a must for marketers.
In Conclusion
The livelihood, judgment, conviction, and in some cases online execution of Perry Belcher teaches us a very important lesson. Now many might say the lesson is in ethics. But I would rather focus on an equally important lesson, credibility. Credibility is built from trust. Trust is build from faith and time. Yanik Silver says “Your reputation always counts” and he is right.
Is Perry Belcher a guy that crosses the line and deals in grey area’s? I think Perry might agree with me that he does. But what entrepreneur (especially online ) doesn’t? In the USA especially we are raised to NOT be entrepreneurial from the minute we started attending school. We (entrepreneurs) are by nature renegades all of us. But there are some lines you cross and some you do not. Perry is an excellent example of those limits.
Is Perry Belcher the a social media scam artists? That remains to be seen. And that will depend on the feedback from his customers because time tells all truths. We are in one of the most interesting era’s for online entrepreneurship so it will be interesting to see if Perry Belchers reputation either flourishes or withers. The ball is in your court Perry. In time how will you be known? As an all star fundamental player or the king of technical fouls? I will take a quote from the film Carlito’s Way and mega rapper Jay Z “The Streets are Watching.”

I guess I must have been living under a rock because
up until recently I had heard the name Perry Belcher a
few times, enough to remember it when, low and behold
he FOLLOWED ME on Twitter! WOW! Had I known then
what I know now, I still would have followed him back
but I would NOT have done this!
I replied back with exactly what I was thinking: WOW,
Thanks…blah, blah …it was an honor to be followed
by the Oprah of IM. DO YOU KNOW HOW FAST I
GOT INTO TROUBLE with less than 140 charaters?
Oprah’s handlers were on it and I couldn’t figure out why?
They forwarded an article and then I thought, Oops, not
good to piss off Oprah so I deleted that @reply and
everything is fine now! Well, I didn’t “know”! I suppose
a comparison to Martha Stewart would have sufficed but
I wouldn’t have done that either. Well, maybe? LOL
God created all mankind equal…yes we are all equally
imperfect. Thanks for the truly unbiased article on the
one who, like Martha, didn’t get away. It seems they both
got alot of free publicity and you what they say…bad
publicity is better than no publicity.

P.S. Perry is not the one to watch now. The streets have
that covered. . . Watch the ones who haven’t been caught,
yet….the sly FRENEMY cleverly lurking nearby, following
you….the signs are there. You can see them if you don’t
get caught up. Guru, Clever and Charming are NOT
complements in my dictionary!
Stick with being influenced by the likes of Darren Monroe!
Name something with any magnitude, good or bad, that
has ever been done alone. Nothing comes to mind because
nobody can do anything alone.
Thanks for your reply Leah. As always appreciated
Darren, I follow you on twitter and that’s how I came across this post. I have to say that I am very, very disappointed in what you have done here. Almost everything you have said in this post is either factually incorrect, opinion based rather than fact based and the only factual statements that you have actually made is that Belcher pleaded guilty to a crime which he has already admitted to in public anyway.
No doubt you’ll want me to support my statements. So lets start with your statement about Bob Proctor.
“there are heavy critics of Bob Proctor because of his international hit Book/DVD The Secret.” The facts are that the only thing that Bob Proctor did in this movie was what he was asked and paid to do. He basically gave one of his seminars, in mini form, in front of a camera. You’ve purported that this was a Bob Proctor production and that is a completely false claim. Proctor was simply paid talent in that production and nothing more. The production was made by GTV9 and produced by Deborah Byrne in Melbourne, Australia. However Bob Proctors 6 minutes program is nothing more than a presell to his much higher priced personal coaching program so are Bob’s tactics really any different. You condemn Perry for selling potential solutions to sick people and at the same time endorse Proctor for selling hope to the needy while Bob knows all too well that the vast majority of people will not have the results he speaks of. Regardless of the reason behind them not having that success, the approach is exactly the same. That’s the reason they both have those disclaimers.
Next you go on about Belchers crime. Perry has gone on record to, in a very minimalist way, confess and explain his actions which he outwardly admits was based on greed. In fact it was not a problem with the products that got him in trouble but the advertising material that he used. Your post gives me the impression you’re a religious man. You speak of forgiveness and at the same time you judge and persecute for your own benefit. I’ll come to that shortly.
You then talk about his latest product launch and question both the merits of the program and the price. You make reference to it being a ‘Twitter system’. You’ve obviously seen the launch videos and must have attended the webinar for you to have as much information as you do. So lets clear up a couple of false claims there as well.
Belchers new product is a heck of a lot more than a twitter marketing system. It encompasses all social media and shows how to use it effectively and a combined and connected system of networks. Added to this he provides coaching, training, custom marketing plans, designs, advertising, wordpress theme and on and on. The custom branding and technical installation and setup would in fact cost twice as much if you did it yourself than what Belcher is offering.
On top of all this you attempt to totally tarnish Belcher by trying to liken him to a spammer. This was just too much for me. Aweber does NOT allow imports and in the rare cases that they do they make you jump through hoops to do it. I have lists with several email marketing companies. Each and every person on those lists opted in. They did not opt in to the service, they opted in to my mailing list. They requested information from me not the emailing company. Aweber makes it far too difficult to move away from one company and over to them because they don’t allow the importing of that data easily. Perry was very clear in his report about why he would want to import contacts. You however take a snippet of information and stain it with your own misguided concoction that will better enable you to damage Perry’s reputation even more than he has done himself.
In conclusion, it’s pretty darn clear to me whats going on here. You have a product that you want to sell. Perry Belcher has now released a product that seriously rivals yours. You are concerned that you will lose sales and revenue because of it. You decide to use suggestion, gossip, and fictional story telling to convince others not to buy Belchers products but to instead buy yours.
You talk about crossing lines, and grey areas and admit that you have done it too.Darren be honest with yourself and your readers. If you kill a man with a knife or a bullet, it makes no difference the intent was the same. By your own admissions you work with the exact same intent so you have no place saying most of what you have.
Finally, you use your religious angle to build trust amongst your readers. Let me be upfront and say I haven’t been to a church in 25 years but from what I remember they always talked about forgiveness, second chances, and that all important judge lest ye be judged.
Darren you should try to market your products on its own merits rather than trying to market based on other peoples failures. As you say in your post, your reputation is all you have, and with this post you just lost a lot of credibility You could have simply explained how darn good your product is or how much more it can offer than other products. Instead you decided to take advantage of someone else’s notoriety in an attempt to boost your own credibility and you in fact have made yourself look very foolish doing so.
BTW, I am not a Perry Belcher fan nor do I dislike him. I think he is dynamic, creative, and very clever. I have never bought his products but as you pointed out his social media strategies have merit. You said you did not want to look like a hypocrite but it seems to me that’s exactly what you have done with this post.
I have subscribed to follow ups so if you want to respond I’ll certainly take a look but I may or may not reply depending on the content of the response.
Have a great day.
Perry Belcher is what he is. His business ethics may be questionable at times, but then so is everyone else online these days. It comes with the territory.
I have seen some big endorsements from some big name people for products that were less than stellar time to time. I write that off the first time or two as, “well, they have about a gazillion people messaging their staff everyday and mistakes are bound to be made. He may not have personally known of his ‘endorsement’ if it was made by a staffer . But, I’ll keep an eye on him for a while.”
But I don’t crucify them because of it. If it is some level of deception, he is crawling up on the cross and nailing himself to it anyway, he don’t need my help. I keep my mouth shut and my eyes open in respect to their future behaviors. If I see a pattern, I simply distance myself from them. If you run with outlaws, you die with outlaws. The streets ARE watching us all.
The thing that disturbs me most of all is not the Belcher article proper, it is the comment from Leah above. The tactics used by the Oprah handlers, as you call them, are something straight out of the Godfather. “Make her an offer she can’t refuse. Go and tell her what her opinion is supposed to be.”
Who died and left Oprah Winfrey the Queen of anything? She has a lot of money and then what? Personal opinions…that’s it. A celebrity marketer – the worst kind of in-your-face interruption marketing there is. But, I won’t take this away from her, she is about the best at it that there is.
Her opinion is no more valid than yours or mine (and I would venture usually not as near well informed). If I want information about something, I’ll go to the library or an expert to get it – not listen to a paid endorsement.
And yes, her “Giveaways” are paid endorsements. She may not get a check, but she gets ratings from it. Paid in full. Ford may not pay her directly, but FMC bought the car she is giving away to get their name mention to her millions of fans. Paid in full.
Convince me that’s not a paid endorsement. Taken in that light, just how transparent IS Oprah? I’m not remotely saying she is wrong, bad or evil – business is business and marketing is a justifiable expense. Just don’t pretend that is not the motive behind it.
If having Oprah upset with me was my biggest problem in life, I’d be sitting pretty good, I think. lol Or any other celeb for that matter. I don’t know any of them personally, so whether they’re mad or glad, my day goes along the same as usual either way.
It’s not integrity if it can be bought, bartered, coerced or sold. It’s something less. In Kentucky we have a saying, “Say what you mean, mean what you say and never back down when you believe you’re right.” People don’t have to like or agree with my opinions on anything – they are between me and my maker and He know how I behave when no one else is watching.
Good piece here, Darren.
Regards,
Mike
Sir thank you for your comment. I like yoursite it is indeed a informative one.
Andrew my opinion is my opinion as yours is yours. But any facts I have posted here are in fact facts I have cited i.e. Shelby Country press release etc. In regards to religion I am actually more spiritual than religious do not reside selectively in one church. I don’t use a religious angle as you call it which proves you really haven’t ready this site much LOL!
Also your remarks about forgiveness are rather disturbing since I also wrote about people’s opinions on forgiveness toward perry in detail from several angles (though not religious ones LOL).
Andrew I knew people like yourself would comment is a strong “need a hug and a tickle me Elmo” fashion.
So be it, time tells all tales about everyone (you and I included)
I knew there would be people like yourself who would say I was trying to gain traffic or credibility /sales from this article.
Bob Proctor: I won’t begin to get it no it with you or anyone else about the Secret because that opens into the Spirituality Ideology of God thing and I am not remotely trying to take this article in that direction.
Six Minutes to Success: have you tried this program? If not you are debating from a point of weakness. Bob hasn’t upsold anyone anything. I have been with his program for 6 months in fact he has given away a TON of free stuff.I have endorsed him because it works as I have said in the article. whether it will work on you depends on you.
Then you said “Bob knows all too well that the vast majority of people will not have the results he speaks of.” well thats a positive statement if I ever heard one LOL! I am more than sure Bob knows it can work for people but you have to actually do it. None of these people will help any of us if they don’t. Is Bobn for everyone ? of course not but who is Andrew? LOL!
As for condemning Perry I don’t see anywhere in my article where I wrote that. My exact words were “The idea that anyone would sell a sick person medicine that doesn’t work sounds horrific. I cannot say for sure that Perry did or didn’t do that. Nor do I think it is my place to do so.”
You also wrote: ” In fact it was not a problem with the products that got him in trouble but the advertising material that he used.”
Yet no cite no facts Andrew. That’s just as unfair to Perry as what you believe my article is.
Andrew you wrote: “Belchers new product is a heck of a lot more than a twitter marketing system. It encompasses all social media and shows how to use it effectively and a combined and connected system of networks. Added to this he provides coaching, training, custom marketing plans, designs, advertising, wordpress theme and on and on. The custom branding and technical installation and setup would in fact cost twice as much if you did it yourself than what Belcher is offering.”
Sounds like another satisfied customer. Congratulations as I said in the article the feedback from his customers would weigh into his reputation (as it does with us all).
You wrote : “On top of all this you attempt to totally tarnish Belcher by trying to liken him to a spammer”
I never called him a spammer in fact I wrote ” I am NOT saying that Perry Belcher is doing this because I have no factual evidence to believe otherwise.”
Respectfully please read the article in detail sir.
You also wrote: “Aweber does NOT allow imports and in the rare cases that they do they make you jump through hoops to do it. I have lists with several email marketing companies. Each and every person on those lists opted in. They did not opt in to the service, they opted in to my mailing list. They requested information from me not the emailing company. Andrew you are completely WRONG about Aweber as Perry was but you know this dont you? Thats why YOU HAVE AWEBER ADVERTSIMENT on your blog! LOL! Andrew come on man dude. No you didn’t just tell me what they don’t do and YOUR A AFFILIATE. LOL! I love the internet! Also Aweber emailed me and said I was very on point in my defense.
I not even going to go any further than that on this argument but I will say that YES Aweber does import your people easily and the reason they do so with your list confirm opting in is so that they can make sure you (And them) aren’t spamming people. As I have said before I have never called Perry a spammer or anything offensive for that matter in this article.
You then wrote : “In conclusion, it’s pretty darn clear to me whats going on here. You have a product that you want to sell. Perry Belcher has now released a product that seriously rivals yours. You are concerned that you will lose sales and revenue because of it. You decide to use suggestion, gossip, and fictional story telling to convince others not to buy Belchers products but to instead buy yours.”
As I said in the beginning (sigh I guess you were too busy counting your Aweber commissions to read the beginning LOL) I didn’t do this because of those reasons I stated in part 2 in the beginning. IF I was doing that I surely wouldn’t have said it out in the open like I did .
Andrew this was not an attack or praise of Perry as I said in the beginning. It is what it is. My opinion and some facts which I cite. I didn’t feel people were being fair from the internet community (some love him others want to lynch him). So I wrote the Good Bad and the ugly.
Thanks Mike powerful words.
I don’t crucify Perry or Oprah (two different people).
I think Perry is one of the most interesting people in internet marketing.
Thanks again
Hello Darren,
I enjoyed you comments on Perry Belcher. I watched his video and found it to be the typical pitch that I’ve seen a million times on a million videos.
My in box is filled with pitches from these guys, along with their sales letters that go on and on ad nauseam, with their numerous testimonials, etc. (although in the interest of full disclosure, I promote some of these products).
I’ve purchased internet marketing programs in the past and most of them rehash the same tired stuff. So to pay 1K to this guy to learn how to use social networking to money? Give me a break.
I’ve already spent about 1K this year on two programs, one of which was so-so, the other from the team whose latest product I’m promoting on my blog because to me, they, more than any other product I’ve found, delivered the highest quality and most concise, comprehensive amount of information. I felt they gave more than their moneys’ worth.
Watching Perry’s video he seemed just another snake oil salesman that the internet marketing niche is swamped with.
Still, it seems as if there’s hundreds of people lining up to pay these guys. Don’t know if because of their power of persuasion, or people looking for a way out of the horrible economy we’re all experiencing. Maybe it’s a bit of both.
But hey, if they can get away with it, more power to them.
Hey BJ thanks for commenting another brave Soul LOL! Many pople just send me emails (I am posting an audio about that soon). BJ you and I may have to agree to disagree on this one. Though I don’t endorse Perry as I write this for the reason s I have stated in this article I can in fact say that that video was interesting for two reasons.
1. When he did it no one else was promoting twitter that hard via video now everyone is but at the time he did it it was a little different from the other messages.
2. You called his a snake oil salesman. Yet in this video and several others I must say that he hasn’t actually pitched anything. His recent program is the only sales pitch I have seen since he has been on Twitter.
This purpose of this article was to cover the Good, Bad, and the Ugly concerning Perry Belcher. As I have defended my article against people who have attacked me here and especially on email and social media who like Perry. I will equally defend the good parts about Perry, the things I did in fact think were worth viewing.
Again thank you for your comment and time
Definitely one of the mode thorough (and accurate) summations of the SMMS webinar you, me and the other 10,000+ people sat in on last week.
Perry’s powerpoint covered some very useful concrete examples when trying to explain why its a good move to deploy his Triangulation concept, I’ve since uncovered a more detailed diagram that shows just how expansive the Social Media landscape REALLY is.
There’s No debate that interlacing Twitter, facebook, YouTube with your WP ‘money site’ is definite must do, he left out quite a few components, that any comprehensive social media strategy must entail, else you will discover in short order, there’s a gaping hole that must be filled. Just My $.02
DECIDED TO MAKE MY RESPONSE PUBLIC…IT’S ABOUT MISGUIDED MIKE’S COMMENTS HE RATTLED OFF —see above.
— What about a shout out to Martha Stewart?? Oprah got all the flack – he’s crazy saying all that about Oprah – she has an untarnished reputation and is not a paid spokesperson. Money loves HER for reasons that guy doesn’t get. Nobody is THAT good at marketing themselves for money as the sole purpose. Madonna was pretty good at that but never even got close to Oprahdom. LOL
——–End
I could go on and on about what an amazing person Oprah is to the World but everyone knows already…except you. Anyway that’s what Oprah’s handlers, managers, staff, helpers, assistants, etc.. are there for. You really should be careful Mike… unless you don’t believe in Karma…and only people with bad Karma say they don’t believe in it (for obvious reasons).
I guess dinner and a movie is just out of the question then. lol We are simply destined to be on opposite sides of the Oprah debate, Leah. I stand to gain nothing either way by her success or failure and wish her no malice. In fact, I don’t pay her much mind at all. I find no benefit in it when compared to the value of my time.
But just so you don’t think she’s not singled out, I don’t pay much attention to most celebrities not of an intellectual note. What have most done except divert our attention away from real life in snippets of 30-120 minutes at a time? I don’t have a television in my home anymore because it’s nothing more than a platform for the interruption marketers to push their goods at me and other time bandits to steal me blind.
As a military veteran who has seen, lived through and endured the wanton deprivation humanity bestows on itself, Karma is not even on my radar screen as a concern or probable outcome. As soldiers, we were Karma. We hand-delivered the “comes around” to those who needed it for what they “sent around.” Somewhere along the line, it has lost its luster with me as a force to be concerned about. It almost always arbitrary and gets to the party too late to help those it was sent to reconcile and protect.
Funny thing though…I don’t recall any celebs being there. I suppose they were at home passing out lapel ribbons to “feel like” they were making a difference. I never saw the effects of the “beautiful people’s” efforts on my end, though. Only those who “do what others won’t” make any real difference and affect change at the point where life and reality impact with one another. The rest are merely spectators at the game cheering for their team from opposite sides of the field.
I wish you well, Leah. And “Miss O,” too. Everything I have said is simply my opinion from my point of view of the world. I am entitled to it. It was never intended to ruffle any feathers, but if it did, I suppose they will just have to be ruffled. lol
Darren, I apologized for “hi-jacking” your blog here and getting it way off topic. lol It was never my intention. I won’t be back to this thread as I consider it closed. But I look forward to your future posts (and I promise to weigh my words more carefully on them.)
Regards,
Mike
Mike,
Who died and left you the D.M. Thread Closer? LOL I don’t think the powers that be will allow you that pleasure…or anyone else for that matter. Dinner & a Movie? It’s been over a decade since I was dragged to a public movie theatre, that big Imax thing. I haven’t watched any TV since they took Alli McBeal off the air. That left nothing to watch even though the TV is a projector and the screen comes out of the ceiling – the whole home theater system sits there all alone. It’s too complicated to figure out – isn’t that a sad waste? LOL The only thing I liked was the earth quake chairs that moved to the sound.
When Oprah first came on TV I was about 20 and I religiously watched her and taped her show when I was out. I learned a lot for the 10 years I watched the show. I have never bothered with celebrities either, not even (mj) Shhh, don’t tell anyone. Never bought an album, CD, Movies, tapes or DVDs. – the radio works just fine. My son knew how to make custom CD’s before the Napster days and the legal issues surfaced .
I do believe we have a lot in common except for Oprah and I only took issue with that because you left out Martha Stewart. Good handlers or body guards are more important than you realize when you’re living “the life” everyone says
they dream of having. Imagine living a life that is not your own – ever.
Anyway that’s beyond the scope of this fully hi-jacked thread and I too, apologize for this…but it is interesting. That brings me to Dave’s Place where
everything is Free – David Pye is also a war veteran and lives in Australia. He wrote a fascinating story about his father’s and his experience being a soldier
in the war. He suffers horrible nightmares and well I just thought you would find him interesting unless soldiers don’t talk about war times. I wouldn’t know? He did say there was nobody he could talk to which is the reason he started blogging.
Well, I guess I let her rip and bravely hit the submit button and let Mr. Monroe delete, reject or forward. Maybe I’ll run into you on the David Pye Blog next time..who knows? I think I’ll go check on Davo myself and see what’s new with his on-going battle with Blue Host — that’s another story!!
Bye-Bye,
Leah
lol, closed as pertains to me. I have no further comment on it is what I meant.
Darren – Good post. Thanks for writing it.
Hey B.J. – Getting away with bad business practices is not a long-term winning strategy. For what it’s worth…
Ryan
Most of this can be summed up with buyer beware.
Darren you reap what you sow. Now I am sure there will be Internet Gurus self proclaimed as yourself that will be gunning for you. Hope you can handle the storm just like you threw at Perry.
First thank you Jim Chandler
Secondly I have NEVER referred to myself even remotely as “GURU” LOL! The real secret to that word is that anyone even near that word doesn’t even call themselves that Jim. Furthermore if you look up the definition you should understand that there is no way to know everything on the internet.
OK now that I have clarified that lets talk about the “storm” I threw at Perry”. What storm? Everything negative is based on court facts but I also brought up the good points.
You are right you do reap what you sow and I have not disrespected Perry in anyway only reported the facts.
I agree 100% with Jim. Most of this can be summed up with buyer beware.
I bought number of internet marketing teaching products including several from Perry. I can only comment that Perry delivered top quality, honest, fun, understandable and affordable products. I liked his marketing style. It was not aggressive or without permission. Every time he expressed his opinions about things (autoresponders, for example), he was able to state the rationale why he says what he says. I appreciated that. Everyone is allowed to think diferently and we (the customers) can decide which path to follow.
As for writing about Perry’s case…there is enough facts from official sites about it and there is no need for another blog repeating and commenting the same.
Regardless of his past, I feel priviledged for having had the opportunity to experience internet marketing products from Perry. Many of his customers will miss him.
Marie thank you for your comment. First you are a little late
(4 months) I posted this sometime ago and actually I was in fact one of those official site thingy places you spoke of LOL. And I was the ONLY one that delved into this subject in detail. I think that it is really interesting that you have been one of the ONLY people who actually endorsed him after the thousands reading this. But sticking to the positive that is a GOOD thing. Perry and any marketer lives only as far as their students success so bravo! And er ah what was your website again??? This would have been an excellent time to promote you product or service. You know to show us that Perry gets results??? LOL!
He he buyer beware!! Even better
